The term ‘roller’ encompasses a range of modalities, one of which is ‘Aggressive Skating,’ which first appeared in California in the eighties and shares the same space as skateboarding. ‘Freeskate’ involves skating around the city. ‘Roller Derby’ began as a game on roller skates played by both sexes, but has now become a contact sport played mostly by women. ‘Hockey Skating’ is practiced by two teams of five players each. Rollers Dana and Javi described all these modalities and the philosophy of life on wheels, claiming their own place within the Mula community.
